Sorry for the delay

With all of my hard work towards the Art Opening at Java Jo'z on Nov 21st, I haven't taken the time to post pictures of all the work I've been doing.

I hope to remedy that soon. I have so many new, totally amazing pieces! And I finally have one that is truly Kufic!

Kells

Like the Book of Kells, this is an intricate work. Each interlace was created with crosses incorparated in the design. It was interesting how the cross formation from the purple inter posed on the green to form the central cross in the circle.

Lindisframe

This is the first celtic cross piece I did. I am thrilled with the way it turned out. I used a photograph as my background. Which worked out great. The colors of the photo are very rich. They show nicely against the colors of the cross itself. For this cross the pieces were cut from randomly created ink color. In other words I took a piece of paper, and randomly covered it wth a certain color, and then cut it to size for the project.

Celtic Cross

This is the very first Celtic Cross piece I ever did. Ton of fun! The background is a photograph. Close up of tree bark. I think that ties well into the Tree of Life icons of Celtic Christianity. But the real fun part is what I used to make up the ribbons. I actually used CD cover's. CD art! Cut them into the ribbons that creat the cross itself.

Allah

Not quite Kufic. Well, not even close to Kufic. I love the simple style of this calligraphy. For this piece, the lack of the vowel markings made it very attractive. It means that all the emphasis is placed on the mosiac pattern in the middle of the word.
