Like the Book of Kells, this is an intricate work. Each interlace was created with crosses incorparated in the design. It was interesting how the cross formation from the purple inter posed on the green to form the central cross in the circle.
Kells was one of the many islands on which the Celtic Monks translated the Scriptures. The book of Kells survived one of the most intricate examples of the Celtic Sacred Art.
To Kufic
Kufic is one of the many different styles of Calligraphy that abound in Islam. Since Islam has a prohibition against representative art, they have turned their creative powers to those of words. Kufic is very squared with straight lines, unlike this piece.
